Casa Soleto

Salento, Italy

This magic gem offers a truly authentic experience of “the village life” in the heart of Salento, Puglia. The noble palazzotto has been lovingly restored by Studio Andrew Trotter and Marcelo Martínez. They took time with the renovation to carefully preserve the historic features of the house, while bringing it into the twenty-first century.

Having kept most of the original floors, the nonna’s kitchen or the internal doors (two of them being three hundred years old), Casa Soleto has all the charm and character guests would expect of a house from the seventeenth century. This is a truly authentic experience. A haven to relax during the trip. A barefoot luxury.

Rustic

The house's charm was carefully preserved while modern touches were added. The original floors and kitchen were kept wherever possible. Domingue Finishes provided the beautiful plasterwork, adding both texture and smoothness to the walls. Collaborating with skilled artisans, like Tullio Cardinale and Alba Falegnameria, ensured authentic restorations, from bathroom fittings by Valadares to custom doors. Antique furniture, rugs from Armadillo, and unique artwork by Eleanor Herbosch were incorporated. Other elegant design choices included bespoke ceramics and soft linen upholstery, blending history with contemporary simplicity.

Behind the kitchen lies a former chapel, now a media room with a 4-meter sofa, doubling as two single beds for extra guests. The media room includes its own powder room and outdoor shower. Adjacent to the living room, the grand dining room and serene garden room, featuring a 3-meter sofa, offer perfect spaces for relaxation and gathering.

The upper floor is accessed via a staircase from the courtyard. To the right, guests will find the green room leading to a street-facing bedroom with an en-suite and walk-in wardrobe. On the other side, a master bedroom with a garden-view terrace boasts a luxurious bathroom with a cast iron clawfoot tub. To the left of the staircase lies another spacious bedroom with a cozy living room, equipped with a sofa bed, and a large, tiled bathroom.
