MIHIRA Home

Ahangama, Sri Lanka

Beneath the emerald canopy of Ahangama, MIHIRA HOME emerges as a masterfully curated sanctuary where the pulse of Sri Lankan nature meets the soul of conscious luxury. Conceived by its founders in 2023, the property represents a labor of love, a transformation of an existing structure into an explorative space designed for sensory connection. Every corner of the home is a tribute to the island’s heritage, blending handcrafted artistry with a minimalist ethos that prioritises stillness and reflection.

The essence of the property lies in its seamless flow; here, the boundaries between the lush outdoors and the intimate interiors are intentionally blurred. Guests are invited to inhabit a space that breathes with the jungle, where earthy tones and organic textures create a grounding atmosphere.

Minimalist

MIHIRA HOME is a brilliant example of Tropical Minimalism and Adaptive Reuse architecture. Designed by Sumudu Abeygunawardena Architects, the project focused on revamping an existing house into a serene pool villa that honours its environment. The design utilises a monochromatic, earthy color palette and raw natural materials to emphasise form and light. Large open-air living spaces and high-beamed ceilings facilitate natural ventilation, while the structure is shaped to respect and integrate the pre-existing trees and vegetation on the land.

Check out the three queen suites at MIHIRA HOME: The Garden, The Nest, and The Crescent. Each one feels like its own little world, featuring a minimalist design with raw textures and its own private garden patio for morning coffee in the sun. The bathrooms are a real highlight, offering open-air tropical showers where you can scrub up with organic Sri Lankan soaps while looking up at the sky.

The rest of the house is just as breezy, with a huge open-plan living area that leads straight to the designer pool. You’ve also got a killer rooftop terrace that looks out over the local paddy fields: perfect for a sunset drink or some morning yoga. Plus, we’ve got you covered with all the essentials like fast Wi-Fi, daily cleaning, and a local team ready to help you snag a surf lesson or a private chef.
