Architecture Type: Pombaline Neo Classic Revivalist
The property is housed in a classic Pombaline-era building, a hallmark of Lisbon’s 18th-century reconstruction characterised by its "gaiola pombalina" (wooden cage) anti-seismic structure. During its transformation, the lodge retained its historic soul—preserved high ceilings, original stone masonry, and winding staircases—while integrating contemporary industrial-chic and neo-burlesque design elements. The renovation masterfully balances 18th-century sobriety with opulent velvet drapes, vibrant frescoes by artist Nuno Saraiva, and state-of-the-art soundproofing to ensure a serene retreat within the city’s most energetic district.
