In the world of luxury travel, there is a fine line between a pleasant stay and a transcendental experience. At CAOBA, we believe that line is drawn by architecture. We don’t just offer places to sleep; we offer design pieces that engage in a dialogue with their surroundings.

Today, we highlight four properties from our collection that have captured the attention of critics and the lens of ArchDaily, becoming true benchmarks for architects worldwide.

1. Casa Liquen: Symbiosis in the Jungle

Location: Santa María del Oro, Nayarit, Mexico. Studio: Fino Lozano

Inspired by the organism that shares its name, Casa Liquen is an exercise in mimicry. Fino Lozano studio achieved a structure that seems to sprout from volcanic rock and the jungle floor. Its design is organized in modules that respect the existing vegetation, using honest materials like exposed concrete and wood, allowing the lagoon breeze to take center stage in the interior climate. It is, in essence, architecture that does not invade, but coexists.

2. Sunflower House: Following the Mediterranean Light

Location: El Port de la Selva, Girona, Spain. Studio: Cadaval & Solà-Morales.

Perched on the rugged Costa Brava, the Sunflower House is a geometric challenge. Its name is no coincidence: the house is composed of a series of volumes (or "petals") strategically oriented to "chase" the ocean views and harvest the maximum amount of sunlight, breaking away from the traditional aesthetics of the area. It is a masterpiece of contemporary architecture that prioritizes visual framing, turning every window into a living painting of the Mediterranean.

3. Casa del Sapo: Minimalism and Community

Location: Zapotengo, Oaxaca, Mexico. Studio: Espacio 18 Arquitectura

Selected by ArchDaily as one of the most significant projects of its year, Casa del Sapo is an ode to simplicity and vernacular architecture. Designed as two concrete blocks that open up to the sea and the mountains, the house seeks "beauty in the essential." It is a sanctuary that invites introspection, utilizing cross-ventilation and natural light as its primary decorative elements. A project that proves luxury resides in silence and space.

4. Casa Manire: Avant-Garde Architecture in the Heart of the Jungle

Location: Manire, Madre de Dios / Cusco, Peru. Studio: Martín Dulanto (in collaboration with Puna Estudio).

Embedded in one of the most vibrant ecosystems on the planet, Casa Manire is a feat of contemporary architecture that achieves the impossible: domesticating the jungle without interrupting it. Here, the exposed concrete does not fight against the environment; instead, it serves as a frame for the explosion of green surrounding the property.

What truly inspires about this work is its capacity for openness. In an area of extreme humidity and untamed vegetation, Martín Dulanto creates diaphanous spaces that allow the jungle to "enter" the home, while maintaining the protection and comfort of a luxury villa. It is an ode to tropical living from a brutalist and sophisticated perspective.
